Donald Trump has finally broken his silence over the major news that Rupert Murdoch is standing down as chairman of his companies Fox Corp and News Corp.
The media mogul, 92, announced his departure from the helm of his empire on Thursday.
Surprisingly, the former president stayed silent on the announcement until Friday morning – despite making multiple posts on his Truth Social account.
Finally, he wrote: “Many people are saying that,”You forced Rupert Murdoch into retirement!” I do not believe this is so.”
It comes after the two men have endured something of a notorious love-hate relationship for years.
Meanwhile, General Mark Milley has revealed several “disturbing” moments during the Trump administration – in particular claiming Mr Trump made shocking comments about a disabled veteran.
Mr Milley told The Atlantic Mr Trump was unhappy Luis Avila – who lost a leg in an IED attack in Afghanistan – appeared at a military ceremony, saying “no one wants to see that”.
In other Trumpworld news, Rudy Giuliani has slammed what he says is a “completely, absolutely false” claim that he sexually assaulted ex-White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson on the day of the Capitol riot.

There is ZERO Republican Leadership in the United States Senate. MAGA!!!”

Trump refused to wear Covid mask because it smudged his bronzer, former aide claims
Ms Hutchinson recounted one incident in May 2020 — just two months after the WHO declared a Covid-19 pandemic — in which the former president was visiting a Honeywell factory that produced masks, according to The Guardian.
The then-president said that he “had a mask on for a period of time” but that he didn’t wear one after talking to the “head of Honeywell,” who told him he didn’t need one.
But Ms Hutchinson told a different version of the story; Mr Trump “decided on a white mask,” and then asked staffers what they thought of it.

Texas AG Ken Paxton attacks rivals, doesn’t rule out US Senate run in first remarks since acquittal
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton attacked his Republican rivals and displayed an openness to challenging U.S. Sen. John Cornyn in 2026 while speaking out Wednesday for the first time since his acquittal on corruption charges at his impeachment trial.
He did not discuss accusations that he misused his office to protect a political donor, which were the backbone of Paxton becoming just the third sitting official in Texas’ nearly 200-year history to be impeached. Paxton did not testify during the two-week impeachment trial and is still under FBI investigation.
Instead, Paxton used pre-recorded interviews with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and a Texas conservative activist to lay into Republicans who drove his impeachment and to assert that his career is far from over.
“It became political completely and I didn’t know how it was going to turn out on the political side,” Paxton told Carlson.

Trump wants Republicans to shut down the government for his own benefit
Mr Trump took to Truth Social on Thursday night, writing that “a very important deadline is approaching at the end of the month”.
“Republicans in Congress can and must defund all aspects of Crooked Joe Biden’s weaponized Government that refuses to close the Border, and treats half the Country as Enemies of the State,” he said.
“This is also the last chance to defund these political prosecutions against me and other Patriots. They failed on the debt limit, but they must not fail now. Use the power of the purse and defend the Country!”
His comments come as the US government is heading towards an imminent shutdown as Congress continues to come to blows on the nation’s spending.

White House trolls ‘worst person you know’ Matt Gaetz
When the White House is trolling Congress using Onion headlines and Republicans are voting against funding the military, you know something very strange is happening in Washington.
On Wednesday, the Biden administration trolled both Florida congressman Matt Gaetz as “The Worst Person You Know” and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy over his leadership using a headline from the satirical newspaper – after Mr Gaetz accused the GOP leadership of causing Congress to careen towards a looming 30 September shutdown deadline without a plan to fund the government.
The White House account on X, formerly Twitter, shared an oft-quoted Onion story featuring a picture of a sullen man with the headline: “Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made A Great Point.”

Ex-Trump aide backs Cassidy Hutchinson’s sexual assault claims about ‘liability’ Rudy Giuliani
Former White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin has said that Rudy Giuliani was known to be a “liability” within the Trump administration – after he was accused of sexually assaulting a White House aide on January 6 2021.
Ms Griffin told CNN that it was an open secret that Mr Giuliani was a “wild card” who would often show up drunk to the White House and that women were warned to stay away from him.
Her comments came after Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to Mr Trump’s former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and a star witness before the January 6 committee, accused Mr Giuliani of sexually assaulting her on the day of the insurrection.
In an excerpt from her upcoming book Enough obtained by The Guardian, Ms Hutchinson, 27, wrote that Mr Giuliani, 79, put his hand “under my blazer, then my skirt” backstage at a rally before a mob of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol.
“I feel his frozen fingers trail up my thigh. He tilts his chin up. The whites of his eyes look jaundiced,” Ms Hutchinson wrote.

Trump uncharacteristically quiet on Murdoch’s retirement
Donald Trump has remained uncharacteristically silent about the major news that Rupert Murdoch is standing down as chairman of his companies Fox Corp and News Corp.
The right-wing media mogul, 92, announced in a memo to staff on Thursday that he was retiring from the empire and handing the reins to his son Lachlan.
Surprisingly, the former president is yet to comment on the news – despite making multiple posts on his Truth Social account – which comes after the two men have endured something of a notorious love-hate relationship for years.
Mr Murdoch and Mr Trump were close allies before the former president took issue with Fox News correctly calling Arizona for Joe Biden in the 2020 election. This week, a new book from Michael Wolff claimed that Mr Murdoch despises Mr Trump to such a degree that he wishes him dead.
Hours before Mr Murdoch’s announcement, Mr Trump had called out Fox for not sharing a poll which placed him ahead of his 2024 rivals.

US finally confirms new top military leader after GOP delays over abortion policy
The Senate voted 83-11 to confirm Gen Brown. In May, Gen Brown, the chief of staff of the Air Force, was nominated by President Biden to succeed Gen Mark Milley in the post.
The confirmation comes after Mr Tuberville’s blockade of hundreds of nominees over the military’s policy on abortion.
The policy, ordered by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin last year, allows for military service members who need to travel for abortion or need to take time off for the procedure to be granted “travel and transportation allowances” and “appropriate administrative absence.” This policy only applies to service members who obtain reproductive care outside of the military.
Due to federal law, the Department of Defense is prohibited from providing abortion services at military treatment facilities except in cases of rape, incest, or to save the pregnant person’s life.
