The Kingdom confirms its firm support for Sudan

The Kingdom reaffirmed its position in support of Sudan and its brotherly people during the fifty-seventh session of the Human Rights Council. This came in a statement delivered by the Kingdom’s permanent representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdul Mohsen bin Majid bin Khathila, during the interactive dialogue regarding the oral update of the independent international fact-finding mission. The Kingdom stressed the importance of working to protect Sudan and its people from further destruction and worsening difficult humanitarian conditions, stressing the need to commit to protecting civilians and relief workers, and ensuring the safety of humanitarian corridors for the arrival of basic aid.
It also urged that the interests of the brotherly Sudanese people be given priority and that the conflict be stopped to protect state institutions and move Sudan to safety.
The Kingdom indicated its hosting of the Jeddah talks between the two sides of the Sudanese crisis, stressing its keenness to achieve an end to the conflict through political dialogue in a way that serves the interests of the Sudanese people.
It also called on the international community to commit to protecting Sudan and its people and to work to restore security and stability in the country, welcoming international efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving peace in Sudan.
The Kingdom expressed its deepest condolences to the Sudanese people over the collapse of a dam in the Red Sea State and the resulting human losses, hoping to God to protect Sudan and its brotherly people from all evil and harm.
