A UN official accuses the Myanmar army of killing 200 civilians in a month news

On Saturday, a UN official accused the Myanmar army of killing 200 people in its attacks against civilian targets last April, and called for an immediate cessation of these attacks.
This came in statements to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volcker Turk, which was transferred by the official website of the United Nations.
And Turk said that the Myanmar army, since the destroyed earthquake, on March 28 to April 29, launched at least 243 attacks, including 171 air strikes, killing more than 200 civilians.
The UN official stressed the need for the army to immediately stop all attacks on civilians and civilian targets.
He considered that the continuous violence against civilians in Myanmar, despite the announcement of the ostensible ceasefire after the earthquake, stresses the necessity of the commitment of “the parties to a real and permanent stop for hostilities at the national level and return to civil rule.”
Turk recorded that continuous attacks affect the people “besieged and are already exhausted by years of conflict,” stressing that the people of Myanmar need “food, water and shelter, as well as peace and protection that they must get.”
He also considered that the current time is “appropriate to put people in the first place, give priority to their human rights and humanitarian needs, and reach a peaceful solution to this crisis.”
He called for engaging in finding a peaceful solution instead of more sterile investment in military power, and called for the need to focus on restoring democracy and the rule of law in Myanmar.
