Several areas in southern Khartoum are at risk of starvation

The World Food Program warned that several areas in the south of the capital, Khartoum, are at risk of starvation. The UN program confirmed, yesterday, Tuesday, that the volume of actual needs exceeds the available resources in light of the lack of financing.
While Laurent Bokira, the Qatari Food Director in Sudan, said, through statements from Port Sudan, to reporters in Geneva, “The level of hunger, want and despair that has been severely monitored and emphasizes the risk of famine in those areas.”
During the past months, the United Nations has been warning that resources in the country began to run out.
She also stressed that Sudan has become classified among the first four countries in the world in the spread of sharp malnutrition.
According to the United Nations estimates, nearly two million people face severe food security throughout the country, while 320,000 are suffering from famine conditions.
In Khartoum alone, at least 100,000 people suffer from famine conditions.
