The European Union is an enemy .. and the membership of Ukraine will be dangerous

Agencies – Moscow:
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that the European Union has turned into an enemy that constitutes a direct threat to Russian security, and that Moscow is now opposing Ukraine’s accession to the bloc.
Russia has long opposed Ukraine to join NATO, one of the reasons for its decision to launch an all -out war on Ukraine in 2022.
In the past, Russia was more flexible about the possibility of Kyiv joining the European Union. President Vladimir Putin said in June 2022 that Russia “does not oppose” this, while the Kremlin said last February that joining the union is a sovereign right to Ukraine.
But Medvedev, who is currently vice -president of the Russian Security Council, said that the European Union has turned from being an economic bloc dedicated to preventing war to what it described as a politicized anti -Russia organization slowly turning into a military bloc.
“Today, Brussels is a real enemy of Russia,” Medvedev wrote on the Telegram application. The European Union, in its current form, is no less than a threat to NATO. ”
Medvedev said that nevertheless, bilateral cooperation between Moscow and some European Union member states should continue. It has not named certain countries, but Hungary and Slovakia, the two neighbor of Russia in central Europe, are making unremitting efforts to maintain friendly relations with Putin since the beginning of the war.
