Grusi calls on Iran to resume the inspections after the ceasefire

Agencies – Vienna:
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, called for the resumption of nuclear inspections in Iran, after a ceasefire between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
“The resumption of cooperation with the agency is essential to reaching a successful diplomatic agreement, which ends the dispute over Iran’s nuclear activities.”
He added, “I sent a message to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqji, in which I stressed the importance of joint work, and I suggested that a meeting be held soon.”
The statement pointed out that the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency remained inside Iran throughout the conflict period, and that they are ready to return to the Iranian nuclear facilities, to verify the stock of nuclear materials.
This inventory includes more than 400 kilograms of enriched uranium by 60 percent, which is a very close percentage of the fertilization level used in nuclear weapons.
The last entry of the inspectors to the Iranian nuclear sites just a few days before the start of the Israeli air strikes on June 13.
The statement pointed out that prominent officials in Tehran have hinted in recent weeks to the possibility of suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is based in Vienna.
