A “initial” agreement to integrate the SDF forces into the Syrian Ministry of Defense

Agencies – Capitals:
The commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, announced that he had reached a “principled agreement” with the Syrian authorities on the mechanism of integrating his forces within the Ministries of Defense and Interior, drawing attention to the talks currently taking place between the two parties in Damascus.
Abdi and President Ahmed Al-Sharaa signed an agreement on March 10, which included several provisions: Chief among them is the integration of the civil and military institutions affiliated with the Kurdish Autonomous Administration into national institutions by the end of the year. However, a difference in views between the two parties prevented progress in its implementation.
Last week, Abdi and Al-Sharaa held a meeting in Damascus, in the presence of the US envoy to Syria, Tom Burke, and the commander of the US Central Command in the Middle East (Centcom), Brad Cooper, as part of Washington’s efforts to advance the talks.
