Denmark summons the US ambassador after appointing a Washington representative in Greenland

Copenhagen – Agencies:
Copenhagen denounced the United States’ appointment of a special envoy to Greenland, the autonomous Danish territory, which President Donald Trump had previously expressed his desire to annex, confirming its intention to summon Washington’s ambassador in protest against this step.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen told the local TV2 channel, “I was angered by the appointment and the statement, and I consider this matter unacceptable,” indicating that the ministry will summon the ambassador in the coming days “to obtain clarification” in this regard.
On Sunday, Trump announced the appointment of Republican Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as “special envoy of the United States to Greenland,” considering that Landry realizes “the importance of Greenland to our national security, and will strongly advance our country’s interests for the safety, security, and survival of our allies.”
