20 settlement plans in Jerusalem during February news

The Palestinian Jerusalem Governorate said on Monday that the Israeli occupation authorities are continuing their settlement projects in the city and announced 20 settlement plans last February.
In a monthly report monitoring Israeli violations, the governorate confirmed the continuation of Israeli colonial policies aimed at strengthening control over the Jerusalem Governorate, through extensive settlement plans that included construction, land seizure, and colonial expansion.
It explained that it documented – based on daily follow-up of official Israeli announcements and the occupation municipality in Jerusalem – a total of 20 colonial plans during the past month.
The governorate stated that 7 of the plans have been deposited, which is the penultimate stage for final approval, and include the construction of 613 settlement units, on a total area of about 960 dunums (a dunum equals a thousand square metres).
It indicated the approval of 5 settlement plans, including the construction of 51 settlement units on an area of 40 dunums, in addition to putting up a plan for tender that includes the construction of 231 settlement units.
On the other hand, the governorate said that during the same month it monitored 47 attacks carried out by settlers in Jerusalem, including 9 physical assaults, one of which led to the martyrdom of the young man Nasrallah Abu Siam from the town of Mikhmas, north of the city.
The attacks ranged from “shooting, burning property, blocking roads, pursuing shepherds, storming and vandalizing homes, and attacks on churches, under the direct protection of the occupation forces.”
She considered that the occupation forces’ protection of settlers reflects “the integration of roles between colonial groups and the extreme right-wing government to impose new facts on the ground and undermine the status quo.”
The Palestinian governmental Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority reported in a report monitoring the occupation’s violations in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, during 2025 that the “planning committees” of the occupation authorities studied 107 structural plans in Jerusalem, including 41 plans outside the borders of the occupation municipality and 66 in settlements within the borders drawn by the municipality for the city.
