Britain announces an international meeting and military coordination to secure the Strait of Hormuz

London – Agencies:
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that the United Kingdom will host an international meeting this week that includes more than 30 countries to discuss ways to restore and ensure the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Starmer said that Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper will host the meeting, which comes within the framework of a unified move to enhance maritime security in the Gulf, noting that his country has succeeded in bringing together 35 countries around a declaration of intent in this regard.
He added, during a briefing in Downing Street, that military planners will hold a meeting after the meeting to discuss how to “mobilize capabilities and make the Strait safe and accessible after the end of the fighting.”
He stressed that this task “will not be easy,” pointing out that he held consultations with leaders in the shipping, finance, insurance, and energy sectors, who stressed that the main challenge is ensuring safe passage through this vital corridor.
This move comes in light of the escalation of tensions and the disruption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important oil transport corridors in the world.
