The Iranian Kurdistan Democratic Party, which opposes the Iranian authorities, announced on Friday that three people were killed in the bombing of its site in Erbil, in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, using drones.
In turn, security sources confirmed that 3 members of the Iranian Kurdish opposition were killed in a drone air strike on an affiliated camp in Erbil.
Video clips circulated on social media showed a drone colliding with homes inside the camp, causing a large explosion.
Following the attack, the Iranian Kurdistan Democratic Party accused Tehran in a statement of launching a new wave of missile and drone attacks targeting what it said were the party’s civilian camps.
This attack comes at a time when, since April 8, there has been a two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States after a war that lasted about 40 days and whose repercussions affected the lands of Iraq and the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
During the war, sites belonging to the Iranian Kurdish opposition, which have been stationed for years in camps and bases in northern Iraq, were subjected to Iranian attacks with marches and missiles.
On February 22, five of these groups, including the Iranian Democratic Party of Kurdistan, announced the formation of a political alliance with the aim of overthrowing the regime in Tehran and ensuring the Kurds’ right to self-determination.
