The Kingdom stresses the need for Iran’s full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency to ensure the peaceful nature of its nuclear program

The Kingdom affirmed the seriousness of the situation in the region, reiterating its condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Palestine and Lebanon.
This came in a speech by the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Muhammad Al-Wasel, in which he stressed the Kingdom’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks on civilian facilities and the human and material damage they caused. The Kingdom affirmed its refusal to change the historical and legal status in Jerusalem and its Islamic holy sites, and its condemnation of illegal settlement for violating international law and undermining the chances of peace.
The Kingdom stressed that achieving peace requires a ceasefire, preventing displacement, withdrawal from Gaza, and establishing a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.
The Kingdom stressed the importance of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as a fundamental pillar of the non-proliferation system, stressing the necessity of fully implementing its provisions and achieving a balance between its three pillars.
This came in a speech by the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Muhammad Al-Wasil, during the general discussion of the eleventh session of the Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. The Kingdom stressed the commitment of countries possessing nuclear weapons to their commitments to disarmament, stressing that the only guarantee against the use of nuclear weapons is their complete and final elimination.
The Kingdom affirmed the inherent right of states parties to the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in accordance with the provisions of the treaty, without additional restrictions, in a way that enhances transparency and cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The speech touched on the Iranian attacks on the Kingdom that targeted civilians and civilian objects, which were condemned by the international community in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. 2817 of 2026, stressing the importance of strengthening regional security, respecting the principles of good neighborliness, non-interference in internal affairs, and the necessity of Iran’s full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency to ensure the peaceful nature of its nuclear program.
The Kingdom affirmed that freeing the Middle East of nuclear weapons is a collective international responsibility, especially on the countries sponsoring the 1995 resolution, noting that Israel’s continued refusal to join the treaty represents a major obstacle to establishing a zone free of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction.
