Norad Santa tracker – live: Follow Father Christmas and his reindeer around the globe

NORAD behind the scenes look at Santa tracking

Father Christmas is getting ready to soar around the globe in his sleigh alongside his faithful reindeer companions.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) are tracking Santa Claus’s trip around the world as he delivers presents to children everywhere.

Norad is a Northern American homeland security unit who defend the skies and seas surrounding the continent, but on Christmas Eve they monitor Santa’s Christmas mission.

The tradition of tracking Santa started in 1958 by Norad’s predecessor, the Continental Air Defense Command.

Santa, who is atleast 16 centuries old, visits every single child across the world, Norad assures.

The organisation have concluded he is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 260 pounds, before enjoying his Christmas Eve treats.

Based on fighter-aircraft photos, the organisation says he has a generous belly and rosy cheeks from sleigh riding in cold weather, with a flowing white beard.

Santa has on several occasions intercepted Norad fighter jets, and every time the pilots tip their wings to say: “Hello Santa! NORAD is tracking you again this year!”

Santa always waves and loves to see the pilots, say Norad.
