We will hand over a PKK supporter to Türkiye

Sweden agreed on Monday to extradite a man convicted of drug trafficking and support for the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) to Turkey, the first since Ankara obstructed Sweden’s request to join to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The official in the Ministry of Justice, Ashraf Ahmed, told AFP that the government decided to “agree to hand over a 35-year-old Turkish citizen to Sweden,” noting that Turkey wants him to serve a prison sentence for drug smuggling, but he himself says that he is being pursued in Turkey because he is from Supporters of the Kurdistan Workers Party.
