Americans endangered in the West Bank
Today, Friday, the White House confirmed that American citizens were in danger in the West Bank.
The Strategic Communications Coordinator at the White House, John Kirby, said in response to a question by Al-Arabiya that Washington is communicating with the Israeli government, after reports indicating that American citizens were at risk in the West Bank.
“very disturbed”
On Monday, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the United States was “deeply disturbed” by the Israeli government’s intention to approve thousands of building permits in the occupied West Bank.
The spokesman added that Washington calls on Israel to return to dialogue, which aims to stop the escalation.
‘an obstacle to peace’
“The United States, in accordance with its longstanding policy, opposes such unilateral measures that make the realization of the two-state solution more difficult and constitute an obstacle to peace,” he said in a statement.
On Sunday, the Israeli government approved a plan to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank, in a move that was condemned by several Arab countries.
