The events in Russia revealed the weakness of Putin’s rule
He said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Sunday, he discussed by telephone with his US counterpart, Joe Biden, the course of hostilities in the Ukrainian-Russian war, as well as the recent developments in Russia.
Zelensky pointed out that the events that took place in Russia on Saturday revealed the weakness of the rule of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He added that he had discussed these unrest with Biden.
In a statement, Zelensky called for global pressure on Russia, and added via Twitter that he also discussed with Biden expanding defense cooperation and focusing on long-range weapons, stressing the importance of strengthening Ukrainian air defense capabilities.
He pointed out that they also discussed the position of the two countries before the next NATO summit.
Later, the White House said in a statement that Biden assured his Ukrainian counterpart of Washington’s support for Kiev, including through continued security, economic and humanitarian aid.
The White House statement added that the two presidents discussed the Ukrainian army’s counterattack against Russian forces.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said earlier in the day that he and his US counterpart Lloyd Austin discussed the latest events in Russia by telephone and agreed that the Russian authorities were “weak”.
Yesterday, the founder of the Russian private military (Wagner) group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced the armed rebellion against the Russian army, accusing the army of bombing camps for (Wagner) fighters in Ukraine, before Prigozhin agreed to stop his rebellion after mediation by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
