Authorities in a Pennsylvania township have ordered some residents to shelter-in-place following several shootings that resulted in the deaths of three people on Saturday morning.
According to information from the Middletown Township Police Department, gunshot victims were located in Falls Township, about an hour outside of Philadelphia.
“It is domestic related. Three people were killed at two different residences,”Jeff Dence, chairman of the town’s board of supervisors, told CNN. He added that the suspect, 26-year-old Andre Gordon, carjacked another victim at another location following the shootings.
“We are investigating with the assistance of the district attorney’s office and the FBI,” Mr Dence told the outlet.
It’s believed that Mr Gordon is homeless but primarily stays in Trenton. Mr Dence said that the suspect knew two of the victims but not the third from the carjacking.
Earlier in the morning, residents of Middletown were urged not to travel to Falls Township until further notice. A shelter-in-place for the area was lifted around 1.00pm ET after police located the suspect barricaded in a house in Trenton, New Jersey.
The local mall, children’s theme park and several area retailers also closed. “We will continue to post updates as we have them,” a police statement concluded.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said he’s been briefed on the situation and has directed the state police to coordinate with local law enforcement officials.
