Developments in the health condition of Ayman Hussein, the Iraqi national team’s top scorer sports


The Iraqi Football Association announced today, Friday, that the health condition of Iraqi player Ayman Hussein has stabilized after he underwent surgical intervention in a hospital in Kuwait, following his injury during his country’s national team’s match against its Omani counterpart in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

A statement by the Iraqi Federation today said that Ayman Hussein “underwent a successful surgical intervention in a hospital in the State of Kuwait.”

The President of the Iraqi Football Federation, Adnan Darjal, thanked, on behalf of the Iraqi Football Federation family, the Kuwaiti side’s continuous follow-up of the condition of player Ayman Hussein and the provision of all facilities, which reflects the strength of the brotherly relationship between the two countries.

Ahmed Al-Moussawi, deputy head of the Iraqi delegation currently in the city of Basra, said in a press statement today, “The condition of the player Ayman Hussein is improving after he suffered a severe injury at the beginning of the match between the Iraqi national team and its Omani counterpart, which was held yesterday evening at the Trunk Al-Nakhla Stadium in the city of Basra, after which he was transferred to the hospital.” The hospital in Basra after the end of a match, where it later became clear that he had suffered a bruise in the chest.

He explained that the injury “led to internal bleeding that required surgical intervention, and he was transferred to Kuwait for the purpose of completing treatment, accompanied by the President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, and the Iraqi Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, Al-Manhal Al-Safi, as they follow with great interest the health condition of the player Ayman Hussein continuously through their presence.” Direct contact with the medical team in a hospital in Kuwait.
