In conjunction with the war… Al Jazeera Net monitors with a camera the continuation of settlement construction in Jerusalem policy
Occupied Jerusalem- In conjunction with its devastating war on the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation continues to build its settlements in the occupied Palestinian holy city.
Al Jazeera Net monitored by camera construction work in the settlements of: Ramot, Givat Zeev, Givat Ram, Ramat Shlomo, and Pisgat Zeev. In addition to the continuation of work on the American Highway aimed at linking the settlements north, south and east of Jerusalem.
Yesterday, Sunday, the Jerusalem Governorate said that the city’s occupation municipality announced that it plans to establish a commercial complex and build 3 towers and 3 large residential buildings on the lands of the town of Beit Hanina.
The governorate explained that the project extends over an area of about 35 dunums (a dunum equals a thousand square metres), where the commercial center will occupy about 32 thousand square metres, while the three towers will have 18 floors.
Since the beginning of this year, Israeli planning authorities have studied about 50 expansion plans in the Jerusalem settlements, according to data from the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, and 20 of them were approved.
According to the Commission, the plans include the construction of 6,723 settlement units, consuming about 2,100 dunams of the Holy City’s lands, indicating a noticeable acceleration in Israeli approvals for settlement construction plans.
