Vance had a slight lead over Walz in the vice presidential debate
Washington – Agencies:
Opinion polls showed the Republican candidate for vice president in the US elections, J.D. Vance, ahead of his Democratic rival, Tim Walz, in their first and only debate, which was characterized by relative calm and witnessed debate over several issues, including the ongoing escalation in the Middle East.
The two men competed about everything in the debate hosted by CBS News in New York City on Tuesday night, from foreign policy and the economy, to the 2020 election, abortion rights, immigration, and climate change.
It was noteworthy that they were committed to political issues and agreed on some common principles, unlike the presidential debate between former President, Republican candidate Donald Trump, and Vice President, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. The two candidates avoided making personal attacks, but rather agreed on some matters related to border control and combating armed violence.
