Israeli raids targeted the southern suburb of Beirut on Saturday, shortly after the Israeli army issued new evacuation warnings to the residents of the area, at a time when the Lebanese Hezbollah launched missile attacks on Israeli sites, while a drone struck the headquarters of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent said that successive explosions were heard in Haret Hreik in the southern suburb of Beirut after Israeli army aircraft and drones launched several raids on the suburb.
Smoke footage showed smoke rising over the southern suburb of Beirut following the first raids on the area 3 days ago.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that “the Israeli enemy targeted” a raid on a building in the Haret Hreik area twice, which led to “the complete destruction of the building and damage to surrounding buildings.” The agency also said that “Israeli warplanes raided the Al-Omara’ neighborhood in Choueifat.”
Prior to the raids, the Israeli army issued warnings to residents of two buildings in Haret Hreik and another in the Burj al-Barajneh and Choueifat neighborhoods to evacuate and stay away from sites it said belonged to Hezbollah.
The Israeli army launched other raids on several towns in southern Lebanon, including Aita al-Shaab, Kafr Shuba, al-Dhahira, al-Adaysa, al-Shihabiyya, Siddiqin, Qabrikha, and Rashkananiyeh.
The raids also targeted the towns of Baflih, Dibaal, Tair Harfa, Baaloul and Hanin in southern Lebanon, and the Mishrifa area on the Lebanese-Syrian border in the Bekaa in the east.
Since last September 23, Israel has escalated its raids, targeting what it says are Hezbollah strongholds in the southern suburb of Beirut and in southern and eastern Lebanon, before announcing at the end of the same month the start of ground incursions across the border.
In turn, Hezbollah responded with daily missile barrages and drone attacks on Israeli positions, and also caused losses among Israeli soldiers penetrating across the border.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced this evening that 2,448 martyrs and 11,471 wounded had fallen since the start of the Israeli aggression against the country.
Targeting Netanyahu’s house
On the other hand, a drone launched from Lebanon today struck the home of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea, and explosions sounded this morning in Haifa, Carmel, Caesarea and other Israeli cities, resulting in at least one person dead and a number of injuries.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said, “A drone was launched from Lebanon and directly hit Benjamin Netanyahu’s house in Caesarea.”
Israeli media reported that the drone explosion at Netanyahu’s house in Caesarea caused a loud sound.
Israeli Army Radio confirmed that the march was similar to the one that struck the Golani camp and would be difficult to intercept.
The Walla website reported that the march that hit Netanyahu’s house in Caesarea exploded despite Israeli military helicopters chasing it all the time.
Channel 12 quoted a source in Netanyahu’s office that the prime minister and his wife were not at their home in Caesarea at the time of the march explosion.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that the march flew 70 kilometers from Lebanon and directly hit a building in Caesarea.
While Israeli officials accused Iran of being behind the attack, Netanyahu said that this attack “will not deter him.”
Caesarea includes the home of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the homes of many Israeli businessmen.
Missile attacks
Israeli Army Radio reported that one person was killed and 14 injured as a result of missiles fired from Lebanon towards the Galilee and Haifa Bay since the morning hours.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, the Israeli army monitored the launching of 150 missiles since this morning from Lebanon on areas in Safed and Haifa.
Earlier, Israeli Army Radio quoted a military source as saying, “We detected the launching of more than 100 missiles since this morning toward the Galilee and Haifa Bay.”
The Israeli ambulance service reported that two people were injured and a number of others suffered panic attacks following the bombing on Kiryat Ata, northeast of Haifa.
Today, Hezbollah announced that it targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers with a missile launcher in the vicinity of the town of Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon.
The party also announced in separate statements that its members today targeted gatherings of Israeli soldiers in the Israeli settlement of Al-Malikiyah and in Jal al-Deir, northeast of the Israeli settlement of Avivim, with missile launchers.
Today, according to previous statements, Hezbollah members targeted the Israeli settlement of Kiryat Shmona and gatherings of Israeli soldiers in the Israeli Al-Marj site and in the Israeli settlement of Zarit with missile launchers.
They targeted a Merkava tank in the Israeli settlement of Zarit with a guided missile. They also targeted the city of Safed, the Israeli settlements of Rosh Pina and Avivim, and the Israeli site Al-Malikiyah with missile launchers, according to its successive announcements.
