Criticism and investigation in Tunisia after a surgery was broadcast on TikTok | Miscellaneous
Tunisian activists criticized broadcasting a woman’s surgery live on the “Tik Tok” platform, and considered it absurd and a departure from the honor of the profession.
A video spread from a Tunisian hospital or private clinic while a woman was undergoing a plastic surgery, and live clips of the operation were broadcast.
Activists expressed their dissatisfaction with this behavior, as Farhat wrote: “This is absurdity and a violation of the honor of the profession. The head of the department must refer it for investigation and expulsion from the health institution.”
Bashir also wrote, saying, “Violating society’s veil is the greatest crime, and those who dare to transgress values in this scandalous and humiliating manner must also be held accountable.”
Hamida said: “She should be removed from the medical profession and the clinic should be punished,” while Mahdi said: “Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram and others have gone crazy for the servants. This is a doctor who found (she could not find) what she could find, and the average citizen has nothing to worry about.”
Investigation into the incident
The Tunisian Medical Liability Law stipulates that every beneficiary of a health service has the right to protect his physical integrity, his private life, and his personal data, including the data included in his medical file, which cannot be processed in any way except in accordance with the legislation and regulations in force.
Commenting on the incident, the head of the Regional Council of the Deanship of Physicians in the Central District, Dr. Fouad Bouzouache, said that an investigation had been opened into the incident, stressing that what happened was “morally unacceptable.” Bozwash said, “No one would have imagined that this would happen and that it would degrade the value of doctors and the profession.”
