How to activate “one-handed mode” in Android | technology
It may be difficult for the user to use smartphones with large screens with one hand. In this case, “One-handed mode” can be activated in the settings of the Google Android operating system, and this mode has been available since the release of Android 12.
The German technology portal “Shape.d” explained that this mode changes the arrangement of the screen elements so that they can be used easily with one hand. This mode can be found in the settings menu under the “System” item and the “Gestures and Movements” item.
Gboard application
If you are using an old smartphone, or if “one-handed mode” is not found in the settings menu, you can use the free Gboard keyboard application from Google.
The free keyboard application can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, and this application includes “one-handed mode,” which can be activated through the application settings.
This application also includes many other practical gestures and shortcuts, which make many daily life tasks easier for owners of Google Pixel phones, including:
Quick tap: Here the user can specify what happens when he taps on the back of the smartphone with his finger, whether it is taking a screenshot, launching the Google Assistant, activating the flashlight, and many other options.
Shake the wrist: When the smartphone is shaken once, the camera switches from the main camera mode to the selfie camera mode.
Rotate phone: If the user activates this mode and rotates the smartphone so that the screen is facing down during an incoming phone call, then ringtones and vibration will be disabled.
On/off menu: When pressing for a relatively long time on the lock button on the side of the smartphone, many models allow the user to choose between turning on the Google digital assistant or opening the power menu with settings to turn off or restart again.
However, due to the large number of companies that rely on the Google Android operating system and the variety of operating system versions, some functions may not be available on some devices or may be present in another menu in the operating system settings.
