Al-Ahly of Egypt and Raja of Morocco were satisfied with a draw outside their bases, the first against Orlando Pirates of South Africa and the second against Manyana of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the second round of the group stage in the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly, the defending champion, returned with a goalless draw against host Orlando Pirates of South Africa on Saturday.
Both teams raised their score to 4 points at the top of the group, which also includes CS Belouizdad of Algeria and Abidjan Stadium of Ivory Coast, who will meet later.
Al-Ahly maintained the top spot in the group standings, ahead of Orlando Pirates on goal difference.
Raja of Morocco tied
In turn, Moroccan Raja Athletic Club won its first point, after returning from Kinshasa with a 1-1 draw with its host, Manyana of the Democratic Republic of Congo, at the “Martyrs” Stadium.
The Green Team suffered an opening loss at the hands of its arch-rival, its compatriot, the Royal Army.
Later, the army will meet with Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in an expected summit in the city of El Jadida.
Raja translated its control at the beginning of the match into progress, through Younis Al-Najjari, who dribbled past the defenders and shot strongly from inside the area following a through ball from Nofal Al-Zarhouni (17).
