The Israeli Air Force launched raids on the Mezzeh Military Airport, southwest of the Syrian capital.
The Israeli army announced two days ago that Israeli infantry and armored forces are stationed along the border with Syria for defensive purposes, and that paratroopers are stationed inside the buffer zone to prevent threats.
This comes as the Israeli army imposed its control on December 8 on the Syrian side of the Hermon mountain range in the Golan Heights, and the Israeli army also deployed its forces in the buffer zone on the border with Syria. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained that these measures were taken due to the recent events in Syria, stressing that these measures are temporary and of a defensive nature.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli army launched hundreds of strikes within 48 hours on military targets in Syria, after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, causing great destruction.
He said in a statement that he attacked the majority of strategic weapons stockpiles in Syria within 48 hours, according to Agence France-Presse.
