Ziyech: Galatasaray is over for me and I want to leave sports

Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech, who moved to Galatasaray last summer after being loaned from Chelsea, expressed his desire to leave the Turkish club during the winter transfer period, 6 months before the end of his contract.

The Moroccan winger did not use wooden language when asked about his future with the team. He told Turkish journalist Haluk Yurekli in a statement reported by the Spanish newspaper Marca: “Galatasaray is over for me. I don’t want to play here anymore. I will leave in January.”

Ziyech, the former Dutch Ajax Amsterdam striker, had a very convincing first season with Galatasaray, and actively participated in winning the Turkish Championship title with 6 goals and 3 assists in 18 matches.

But after that, it seemed that the Moroccan international could no longer bear to stay at the club, especially after the deterioration of his relations with coach Okan Buruk, who made him play less.

Ziyech (31 years old) did not hesitate to attack the coach publicly and said: “No, I have never seen such a poor coach. I don’t care.”

When asked about the club’s chances of winning the championship, Ziyech replied: “I don’t really care… Let them leave me alone, no matter what. I already regret coming here.”

Ziyech’s contract with Galatasaray expires in June 2025, and Turkish media reported that France’s Rennes Stadium is one of the possible options to include the Moroccan international player.

The Greek Olympiacos and the Portuguese Benfica also expressed their interest in including the Moroccan on loan next January.
