South Korea.. The presidential guard refuses to cooperate in the arrest warrant for the president
Agencies – Seoul:
South Korea’s presidential guard said that it cannot cooperate with other officials trying to implement an arrest warrant issued against President Yoon Suk-yul, who is suspended from office and is awaiting impeachment, which could lead to his impeachment.
This comes in light of a legal controversy over the legality of implementing the president’s arrest warrant, and Yoon became the first sitting president to face arrest due to an attempt to declare martial law on December 3. It did not last long, but it sparked political chaos that swept the fourth largest economy in Asia.
Following the failed attempt by the South Korean authorities to detain him, President Yoon announced that legal steps would be taken against those involved in the attempt to detain him, South Korean Yonhap News Agency reported yesterday. Yonhap quoted Yoon’s lawyer as saying that he intends to file a complaint against about 150 law enforcement officials, including the head of the anti-corruption agency, which is dealing with his case regarding the declaration of martial law.
