International flights resumed at Damascus Airport for the first time since the overthrow of the regime of ousted President Bashar al-Assad following a lightning attack launched by opposition factions led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, in which they took control of the largest Syrian cities all the way to the capital.
A Syrian Airlines plane took off from the Damascus airport runway towards Sharjah Airport in the United Arab Emirates. The airport official, Saad Khair Bey, said earlier that the first plane was scheduled to arrive in Syria at midday, coming from the State of Qatar.
