Saiss’ own goal causes a surprising defeat for Al Sadd in the Qatari League | sports

Al-Sadd defender Romain Saiss scored a late goal against his team, causing a surprise 0-1 loss to its guest, Qatar Club, in the local Football Stars League on Thursday.

The match’s only goal came in the 83rd minute after a corner kick that Al Sadd’s defenders failed to clear, reaching Sebastian Soria, the Qatar striker, who tried to reach it, but Saiss headed it into his team’s goal.

Al-Sadd was the most dangerous throughout the minutes of the match, and tried to reach the Qatar Club goal 18 times during the match, but the team’s attackers lacked accuracy in ending the chances, with the visiting team’s goalkeeper, Sati’ Al-Abbasi, excelling in Al-Sadd’s goal.

Saiss thought he scored the equalizer for his team in stoppage time, after heading the ball into the net, but the Moroccan defender was in an offside position.

Qatar Club raised its score with this valuable victory to 13 points after achieving its fourth victory in 13 matches this season, but it remained in the penultimate position in the standings.

Qatar Club striker Ahmed Abdel Qader told Al Kass Sports Channel, “I hope that today’s match will be a return for the team to the position it deserves and befits.”

Al Sadd suffered its fourth loss this season, stopping its tally at 25 points, placing it in third place, 3 points away from leaders Al Duhail, who will host Al Rayyan later in the day.
