Israel plans to build a thousand housing units in the West Bank

Agencies – Jerusalem:
The Israeli “Al -Salam now” movement announced that Israel has launched a tender to build nearly a thousand additional housing units for settlers in the occupied West Bank.
The “Peace Now” movement stated that building 974 new housing units would allow the residents of the Efrat settlement to expand by 40 percent, which puts more obstacles to the development of the nearby Palestinian city of Bethlehem.
Israel had built more than 100 settlements throughout the West Bank, ranging from settlement points on the hills, integrated societies similar to small and suburban cities, with residential buildings, commercial centers and gardens.
More than 500,000 settlers reside in the occupied West Bank, which is inhabited by about 3 million Palestinians. The settlers hold Israeli citizenship, while the Palestinians live under military rule, in light of the Western -backed Palestinian Authority assuming the administration of the population centers.
