The term “guest of honor” generally refers to the emergence of a guest in an artistic context, and this term distinguishes themselves from the artists participating mainly in the artwork. These guests are usually recognized on their own, that is, from celebrities, and they appear only once or in a limited way during the artwork.

However, recently, series were shown mainly on the appearance of guests of honor, who change from one ring to another, form the backbone of the plot, and not just an addition to it. There is more than one series in this direction that was shown during the current Ramadan season. Will this trend end soon?

What is meant by the series of guests of honor here is the works whose love has a general framework, but what moves events forward is the nature of a guest or guest of honor that appears in each episode. It is not a new shout this year, but it has appeared frequently in the last decade to turn into a clear phenomenon. It is possible to return back a few years to find it in Ramadan works such as “Wind of Madame” (Production 2017), “The Will” (Production 2018) and “Baba Jah” (Production 2024). This tradition extends to this day, where we find two clear example in 2025 in each of the “very apartment works” and “80 Baku”.

The series “Ashleh Apartment” is generally revolved around Hamdi (Hisham Majid) and his wife Yasmine (Asma Jalal), who are provided in the first part with twins of boys, and therefore they need a home worker. However, the nature of workers and their actions leads to many comic paradoxes.

This represents the general framework of the world of the series, while the episodes follow the same framework of the guests of honor, as it depends mainly on the idea of ​​separation in sub -subordinates, so that Bossi can collect money, do special tasks outside the hairdressers, during which you learn about the stories of other women affected by them, and they are also affected by their personal suffering, while in the background comes other fixed dramatic lines such as those for Madam. (Intisar) and colleagues of Bossi in the hairdressers, Faten (Donia Sami) and Abeer (Rahma Ahmed).

Where is the interconnection?

It is commonly believed that the beginning of the series coincided with the emergence of television, that is, in the mid -twentieth century, but this is a wrong belief. If we go back to the book “The Encyclopedia of Cinema in the World” in its first part, we will find that the series, in its near -form, began to appear with the start of the twentieth century, specifically in 1908, after the emergence of cinema a few years, when the cinema began in December 1895, meaning that only 13 years have passed between the two events.

So, how was the series being shown at that time? It was shown in the same cinemas, so it was customary to show an episode of the series every week. As such, the audience was waiting for the new episode per week just as we do today when we were waiting for the weekend to watch the new episode on various platforms.

The cinematic series were designed to ensure that the viewers returned to the cinema to watch the next episode by ending the episode at an exciting event, which creates a desire for the audience to continue to follow the events, which is missing by the guests of honor, which the continuity lacks, while the series makers in their first cinematic version have already realized this.

While there is this type of series, which is mainly centered around guests of honor, including defects such as fluctuating level and the absence of continuity in the event, this year was presented by a series in which guests of honor show more than usual, but they are not considered at the same time a basic staff, and does not belong to the series of guest of honor, and is represented in “my sisters” directed by Mohamed Shaker Khudair.

The crew of “My Sisters” Nelly Karim, Ruby, Kinda Alloush, Jihan Al -Shamsharji, Hatem Salah and Ali Sobhi, but 3 of the guests of honor who contributed to the main plot, appeared in it, and their performance was one of the most important points of the series, and not as a matter of accessories or to attract more spectators or exploit their fame and success.

The series mainly revolves around the killing of Rabie (Ahmed Hatem) suddenly, which may indicate the fingers of accusation to his wife, Najla (Jihan Al -Shammorshi), who dreamed of the details of his death, and told her dream on TV. Consequently, she tries with her “sisters” to extract a burial permit without a medical examination, and Hatem appears via flashback in a number of scenes of the series with the following episodes that reveal the nature of the character and the repercussions that led to his killing, to present in the series a role with a limited time on the screen, but very influencing the plot.

The matter is repeated with Muhammad Mamdouh in the role of Abdin, the civil registry employee who blackmail “the brothers” in exchange for obtaining the burial permit, in addition to Ali Qassem in the role of Najati, the former preacher of Naglaa who leads her to know the murderer of her ex -husband, and contributes to moving the events in a different direction as a result of his advice.

What we call the guests of honor is not a departure from the traditional TV series, and it may be a diversification required in a TV season that is filled with business as is the case in the Ramadan season, but it turns into a shout and the absence of cohesion from them in a clear way that leads to liquidity in building the series and facilitating their makers, and adopting them mainly on the popularity of these guests and their ability to attract viewers or not.
