This incident is of special importance as it occurred in the archipelago of Socotra, which is the true treasure of Yemen in terms of environment.

This island is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List and within the UNESCO program for man and the vital surroundings, due to the richness of its distinctive biological diversity that makes it unique in the world.

Socotra is located on the southern side of the Republic of Yemen off the city of Mukalla, and is about 300 km from the Yemeni coast.

The people of the area were surprised by uncommon scenes on the coast of the Nit area, where dozens of dolphins appeared on the beach in a shocking view that the area had not seen before.

The video clips that spread extensively on social media showed the size of the environmental disaster that struck this environmentally sensitive area.

According to the director of the Al -Jazeera Fisheries Authority, Ahmed Ali Othman, the reasons behind this mass mortality are due to natural factors.

Othman explained that the dolphins usually move in swarms led by Delphin leader, and in cases of poor vision or intensification of marine currents, these Israelis may collide with the coast or lose the ability to return to the depths of the sea.

The official added that the strong currents and the height of the waves may push dolphins to the beach, as they face great difficulties in breathing or movement, which in some unfortunate cases leads to their death.

Despite this environmental tragedy, the rescue efforts have succeeded in returning about 10 other dollars to the sea, which shows the importance of rapid intervention in such emergency cases.

The need to investigate

Yemeni singers agreed on the need not to deal with the phenomenon of dolphins in a transient and interfering seriously, whether by investigating the reasons or by trying to save what can be saved from these marine creatures, which was highlighted by the episode (6/26/5/5) of the “Networks” program.

According to the singer Zuhair, “it should not be tolerated with this strange phenomenon, and that the issue needs to investigate the truth about the possibility that chemical waste or nuclear waste has been thrown, and one of the whales must be sent to study the cause, and the incident does not simply pass.”

In the same context, Abdel -Wali stressed the strangeness of what happened from a scientific perspective, explaining that “the phenomenon is strange, but it is noticeable that this type of fish will come out only and in large numbers.”

On the other hand, the activist Ziad focused on the possibility of rescue instead of leaving the creatures to die, noting that “if there were rescue teams, it would have been saved as a costume of what they took to the water clubs.”

The singer Umm Louay expanded in the same direction with a more severe criticism of the official dealing with the crisis, as she wrote, “Where is the state taking it to any suitable place to live as long as it comes out of the sea instead of what it dies, this is a wealth that does not know its value, if outside they work 100 solutions to save all these dolphins.”

The Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fish Resources, Salem Abdullah Al -Sattari, directed the branch of the Fish Holes Authority in Socotra to go to the coast, study the phenomenon of the death of a number of dolphins, and submit an urgent detailed report.

This is not the first time that Socotra has witnessed the death of dolphins. The coast of the Qalansi district witnessed the death of more than 20 Dolphina in a collective manner in 2017 for unknown reasons, according to local media.
