The New York Conference to recognize the State of Palestine is a historical step towards achieving peace

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed what was stated in the “New York call” issued by the foreign ministers of several countries that affirmed their recognition of the State of Palestine, or about the desire of countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to recognize it.
Abbas said in a statement published by the “Palestinian News Agency” that the announcement issued by the foreign ministers of Andora, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia and Spain “represents a historical step towards achieving a fair and comprehensive peace, and enhances international efforts to end the Israeli occupation, and establish the Palestinian state. Independent and its capital, East Jerusalem.
The Palestinian President praised the courageous positions of these friendly countries, which confirmed their commitment to seeing the two -state solution, and to international law -based peace and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Abbas called on other countries to “join this call, and contribute to pushing the political process on the basis of the two -state solution, in order to ensure security and stability for all the peoples of the region.”
