US President Donald Trump called on the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to return all Israeli Israeli soldiers to the resistance in the Gaza Strip.
“They informed Hamas to restore all 20 prisoners immediately (not 2, 5 or 7!), And things will change quickly, will end,” he said in a post on the Truth Social platform, “in a sign that this would end the Israeli aggression on the Strip.
At the same time, the Haaretz newspaper quoted Israeli political sources as saying that “these days are decisive and there are unannounced moves that may lead to the conclusion of a deal.”
The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that the Israeli prisoners’ families asked Trump yesterday to intervene to reach a deal between the resistance and Israel, and addressed him saying, “Make history by sponsoring an agreement that restores the prisoners and ends the war.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is required for the International Criminal Court, refuses to reach a partial deal similar to what was previously demanding and insisting on reaching a full deal, arguing that he has “full support from US President Donald Trump in this position.”
It is noteworthy that the Hamas movement agreed to a proposal it received from the Qatari and Egyptian brokers last month regarding the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of the prisoners, but the Israeli government has not officially spoken its response.
Prisoner families
Meanwhile, thousands of Israelis participated in a march that started in Jerusalem towards the government headquarters, to demand the cessation of the war on Gaza. Participants raised slogans describing the war as a fake war.
These activities come within the framework of the growing popular movement by the families of Israeli prisoners and in solidarity with them to pressure the government to stop the military operation in Gaza City, stop the war completely and return all prisoners.
Participants in these marches raised an embodiment of a coffin wrapped in the flag of Israel, indicating that the continuation of the war will incur more deaths, and demonstrators commented banners that carried the image of Netanyahu, who was accused of neglect that led to the attack of the 7th of October, and accused Netanyahu of seeking to prolong the war.
