The Spanish government is considering accelerating the approval of a ban on the export of weapons to Israel and imposing sanctions on it, according to the local newspaper Elpiais today, Saturday.
The procedure comes amid a package of sanctions that the cabinet is expected to approve next Tuesday, while the newspaper indicated that the planned sanctions come in the context of pressure on Israel against the background of the martyrdom of more than 64,000 civilians in the war of extermination on Gaza, in addition to the expansion of building settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albaris called on mid -July to stop the sale of weapons to Israel as a result of its violations in the Gaza Strip.
In his interview with Al -Jazeera, Albaris stressed that it is not possible to continue to dismiss Israel’s violations of human rights in Gaza, noting that the European Union believes in a two -state solution.
European foreign ministers are discussing measures that are likely to take against Israel as a result of human rights violations in the Gaza Strip.
Since last March, Israel has imposed a blockade applied to the Palestinians in the Strip, as the crossings were closed and only allowed in very scarce quantities of aid that are not commensurate with the needs of the sector, and distributed them through “suspicious” institutions that do not belong to the United Nations, and opened fire on the awaits of aid and killed thousands of them dead and wounded.
Since October 20, 2023, Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, which left 64,368 martyrs, 162 thousand and 367 injured Palestinians, most of them children and women, and more than 9 thousand missing, hundreds of thousands of displaced people, and the famine of the lives of 382 Palestinians, including 135 children.
