French President Emmanuel Macron announced his country’s recognition of the State of Palestine, in a speech to the work of the high -level international conference for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of a two -state solution, which was launched in New York on Monday evening.
French President Emmanuel Macron said that we can no longer wait to recognize the Palestinian state, and added, “We bear a collective responsibility for our failure so far in building a just peace in the Middle East.”
Macron pointed out that the promise to establish an Arab state in Palestine has not yet been achieved, and we have the duty to draw the path of peace in the Middle East, and to do everything we can to maintain the possibility of achieving a two -state solution.
He said that Israel continues its operations in Gaza with a declared goal, which is to destroy the (Islamic Resistance Movement) Hamas, but the lives of thousands of Gazans are still destroying. He added, “There is no justification for what is happening in Gaza and the war must be ended to save lives.”
He expressed his sympathy for the Israelis, and demanded that the unconditional release of the prisoners detained in Hamas, and said that “the brutality of Hamas and those who cooperated with it on October 7, 2023 were astonished Israel and the world,” as he put it.
