Trump says he was shot in the ear at rally in incident investigated as assassination attempt: Live

Next week’s Republican National Convention — when Trump will receive the party’s nomination for president for a third time — will proceed as scheduled, according to GOP officials and his campaign.

“As was communicated earlier this evening, President Trump is doing well and grateful to law enforcement and first responders for their fast action,” according to the statement from Republican National Committee chairs Michael Whatley and Lara Trump and Trump advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita

“President Trump looks forward to joining you all in Milwaukee as we proceed with our convention to nominate him to serve as the 47th President of the United States,” they added.

“As our party’s nominee, President Trump will continue to share his vision to Make America Great Again.”

Speaking from a convention center at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Biden said he has been “thoroughly briefed by all the agencies in the federal government” on the situation and that he’s attempted to get ahold of Trump but had been unsuccessful, because he was “with his doctors.”

Biden said he plans on speaking with Trump’s doctors as well, and said there was “no place in America for this kind of violence.”

“It’s sick,” he said. “It’s sick.”

Biden said the incident at the rally demonstrates one of the reasons why “we have to united this country” and said Americans “cannot allow for this to be happening.”

“We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this,” he said.

“The bottom line is that the Trump rally was a rally that he should have been able to be conducted peacefully, without any problem … the idea that there’s political violence or violence in America like this is just unheard of. It’s just not appropriate. And we, everybody, everybody must condemn it,” the president said.

“President Trump is in my prayers after surviving this assassination attempt. We are also heartbroken that reports indicate that at least one innocent person has been killed and perhaps others have been injured. This horrific violence has no place in America,” Reince Priebus, the chair of the Republican National Convention host committee, said in a statement.

The convention is scheduled to begin Monday. He said: “Guests have already begun to arrive in Wisconsin, and we look forward to working with the Republican National Committee to welcome everyone to Milwaukee this week.”

Joe Biden is returning to Washington DC tonight following an apparent assassination attempt against Donald Trump.

He is now scheduled to leave Delaware shortly.

A freshman Republican has accused PresidentJoe Biden of ordering the shooting at a rally in Pennsylvaniathat left Donald Trump injured.

The former president was rushed from the stage soon after he began to speak on Saturday, with blood running down his face, by his Secret Service detail who bundled him into a waiting motorcade. Trump’s campaign said that is he “fine” and being “checked out a local medical facility.”

Secret Service agents killed the suspected shooter, who was outside the rally when the shots were fired, according to law enforcement officials.

Donald Trump described in graphic detail the moment he said he was shot through the ear in his first comments following an attempt on his life at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” the former president said in a post on Truth Social.

“Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening,” he added.

Trump thanked the Secret Service and law enforcement for their response to the shooting and paid condolences to the family of a rally-goer who was reported killed in the attack.

“Thank you for your love and prayers for my father and for the other victims of today’s senseless violence in Butler, Pennsylvania. I am grateful to the Secret Service and all the other law enforcement officers for their quick and decisive actions today. I continue to pray for our country,” Ivanka wrote on Truth Social. “I love you Dad, today and always.”
