What does Israel put iron gates at the entrances to the Jenin camp? | policy

With the Israeli military operation, the “Al -Hadid Wall” in the city and camp of Jenin in the north of the West Bank, entered the fourth month, the Israeli occupation forces began today, Wednesday, the installation of iron gates at its entrances.

And the Palestinians in the West Bank became known for these yellow gates, which constitute part of their daily moves when they tried to move from one city to another or from one town to another, where the occupation has placed since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip, one of which is at the entrance to almost every village and city, which is opened and closed with the mood of the occupation soldiers in its vicinity.

Today, these gates were placed at the entrances to the three main camp, and led to its complete removal from the vicinity of the city of Jenin, and drew a dark scene for the displaced who have been waiting for months for the end of military operations and return to their homes.

Loss of hope

“We started our day with news of the gates on the entrances to the camp, at first they put one near us at the return roundabout west Camp.

The residents believe that the closure of the camp entrances from its three sides, Western, East and North, is more like converting it into a closed and completely isolated camp.

“The gates mean losing the remaining hope for us to return to our homes in the camp. Since the morning, my family informed that this procedure means the impossibility of returning in any way, and that the crisis will be further long, and as Palestinians we have to find a fundamental solution to it,” Abu Sami added.

As for the mother of the martyr Ashraf Al -Saadi, the occupation’s monument to these gates represents a new blow to the displaced people who dream of the occupation army withdraw from the camp to return to it.

Umm Ashraf describes her condition the moment she heard the news, and she says, “I felt that my heart was arrested and cried a lot, I felt that they had seized our homes in a real way today.

“They expelled us from the camp as if they were for them, now the situation has become more difficult for us as the displaced, but we say that our return to our homes is coming, we will return to the camp, God willing, and the occupation army will withdraw,” she adds to Al -Jazeera Net.

Applied

According to the municipality of Jenin, the occupation applies its siege to the camp completely and continues to remove it from everything surrounding it, with the continued demolitions, the creation of streets and the expansion of roads at the expense of buildings inside it.

He says Mayor Mohamed Jarrar, to Al -Jazeera Net, that since the major bombing of the occupation army in the depth of the camp after the booby -trapped houses at once, no party, which was entered the camp or in any way, has not been able to subscribe to the reinforcements with unknown equipment for them on a daily basis.

He added, “Then the army demolished nearly 60 residential buildings through bulldozers, and it had announced its intention to demolish it in the lanes of the marks, the merger, and Abdullah Azzam, etc., demolition operations take place daily and continuous Infrastructure, streets and services in it.

According to Jarrar, the goal is to completely isolate the camp, in implementation of the Israeli government’s plan to stay for a long time. And “what is happening is unfortunately at the expense of the people, who found themselves without shelter and in very bad economic and social conditions.”

According to the estimates of the municipality of Jenin, the occupation has so far demolished nearly 600 residential buildings, while all the destruction of citizens and property of citizens in the camp has been destroyed, which means that it has become insecure.

The occupation plan

The displaced people, who number 21 thousand Jenin camp, were distributed in multiple areas, including the town of Burqin, which included the largest number of displaced people who resorted to towns and villages of the governorate, and their number reached 4181 displaced people, while the Arab League housing in Jenin includes 3200 displaced people, and nearly 6 thousand displaced people resided in the city of Jenin, according to the same source.

At a time when the Palestinian government is seeking, as part of the Ministry of Works plan, to build a temporary camp between the cities of Jenin and Tulkarm, which will include in the first stage 35 mobile homes, to be in the Wadi Barqin area, and each house can accommodate 5 individuals, the displaced people from Jenin camp see that this plan is to help the demolition and cancellation of the camp that Israel started 4 months ago.

The Palestinian association submitted a request to allow the people of the camp to enter it in the form of groups of 50 people in each group, and has not yet reached a response to acceptance or rejection from the occupation.

Some believe that installing gates may be a first step through which people cross into their homes in the camp, after the process of searching and checking their identities.

From October 7, 2023 until the end of last March, Israel has set up 900 iron gates and a military barrier at the entrances to the towns, villages and cities of the West Bank, isolate them from each other and limit the movement and movement of citizens.
