Putin is open to the peace of Ukraine, but it cannot be achieved quickly

Moscow – Agencies:
The Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to peace in Ukraine, adding that there are extensive efforts ongoing with the United States, but the conflict is so complicated with it difficult to make progress at the speed that Washington wants.
“The president is still open to political and diplomatic ways to resolve this conflict,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. Peskov said that Russia’s goals should be achieved and that Moscow prefers to achieve these goals peacefully.
He pointed out that Putin expressed his willingness to hold direct talks with Ukraine, but Kiev has not yet responded.
“We have not heard any statements from Kyiv in this context. So we do not know whether Kyiv is ready or not. ”
US President Donald Trump said that he wanted people to remember him as a peacemaker, as he has repeatedly said he wanted to end the “bloodbath” in the war that has been more than three years ago in Ukraine, which his administration now describes as a proxy struggle between the United States and Russia.
“We realize that Washington is ready to achieve quick success in this process,” said Peskov in English. However, the TASS news agency quoted Peskov as saying that the root causes of Ukraine’s conflict are very complex so that they cannot be resolved in one day.
Trump said on Tuesday that he believed that Putin wanted to stop the war in Ukraine and indicated that Russia would have been trying to seize the entire Ukraine had it not been for its existence.
“Had it not been for my presence, I think he will want to control the entire country.” Trump refused to answer a question about whether the United States would stop military aid to Ukraine if Washington withdrew from the talks.
Putin’s decision sent tens of thousands of forces to Ukraine in 2022 to the worst confrontation between Moscow and the West since the Cuban missile crisis in 1962.
