The South Korean army stops the loudspeakers directed towards North Korea

Sol – Agencies:
The South Korean army announced that it had stopped loudspeakers near the border with North Korea, nearly a year after its resumption of its use and the playback of Korean pop music through it during a period of tension between the two countries.
The move comes in implementation of a promise that President Lee-Ji Mongji, who took office this month, pledged to resume the dialogue, stop broadcasting through loudspeakers, and re-work under a military agreement suspended with Pyongyang.
An official at the Ministry of Defense said in a statement: This step is aimed at “fulfilling the promise that was made before the people to restore confidence in the relations between the two Koreas and bring peace to the Korean Peninsula.”
The South Korean army said at the time that Seoul’s appeal using amplifiers in July came in response to Pyongyang balloons loaded with garbage across the border.
