The Lebanese Foreign Minister apologizes for not accepting an invitation to visit Tehran and proposes talks in a third country

The National News Agency reported that Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji said that he apologized for not accepting an invitation to visit Tehran at the present time, and instead suggested holding a meeting “in a neutral third country to be agreed upon.”

Raji said that “current circumstances” were the reason for his decision not to visit Iran, without giving further details. He stressed that this “does not mean a rejection of the discussion, but rather the favorable atmosphere is not available.” Last week, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi invited his Lebanese counterpart to visit Tehran in the near future to discuss bilateral relations.
