The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque revealed that the Grand Mosque is washed and disinfected 10 times a day, and this is done by 4 thousand male and female workers, over a period of 24 hours, and the washing operations take place inside the Grand Mosque, its roof, its yards, and its facilities.
Jaber Al-Wadani, Director of the Department of Cleansing and Carpets of the Grand Mosque, stressed that the washing and disinfection operations are carried out through competencies that have been qualified and trained to carry out washing work, according to a precise system that takes into account the density of numbers and different cultures, and the honor of place and time. Modern washing equipment and mechanisms are also used to maintain the cleanliness of floors and entrances. With washing the bridges and culverts in the squares, the edges of the walls, columns and corners, and the water drainage channels at each site, in addition to allocating special equipment for washing the mataf bowl and special equipment for the endeavor, and others for the chapels, and the external squares, and electrical mechanisms to remove the waste outside the Grand Mosque.
He stated that the cleansing operations are carried out in a technical and rapid manner that does not cause hindrance to the sects, and that the complete cleansing of the area takes about twenty minutes, using special materials for the Grand Mosque.
