For its part, Russia announced, on Thursday, that its forces had killed two Ukrainian generals and “up to 50 officers” in a strike on the city of Kramatorsk, 50 kilometers from the front.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, a Russian strike on a restaurant in Kramatorsk two days ago killed 12 people and injured 65 others.

“As a result of the June 27 strike on Kramatorsk, two generals and up to 50 officers of the Ukrainian army…and 20 mercenaries and advisers were eliminated,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian ministry did not specify whether the strike it was talking about was the same as the strike on the restaurant, at a time when the Ukrainian authorities mentioned the presence of “mainly civilians” in the “Ria Pizza” restaurant, which was targeted on Tuesday and is usually frequented by journalists, humanitarian and military workers.
