After bloody nights… cautious calm returns to France


After France experienced 5 nights of riots, during which more than 700 people were arrested, calm returned somewhat to some cities and suburbs in the country.

Al-Arabiya / Al-Hadath correspondent reported that life has returned to normal to some extent Champs-Elysees Avenue Famous in the French capital, Paris, after the great chaos it experienced during the past hours, following the angry protests that erupted against the background of the killing of the 17-year-old, Nael, by a policeman’s bullet during a traffic check.

Tens of thousands of police

Following the funeral of the young man on Sunday morning, the French Ministry of the Interior revealed that the intensity of the riots had subsided, explaining that it had deployed tens of thousands of police officers in cities across the country.

The Ministry of the Interior also stated on its Twitter account that 45,000 police personnel and thousands of firefighters had been mobilized to enforce order.

“Murder”

It is noteworthy that the 38-year-old policeman was placed in pretrial detention on Thursday, after he was charged with premeditated murder.


Over the past five nights, France witnessed riots, looting, theft, breaking, and burning that broke out following the killing of Nael and continued in many popular neighborhoods in the country.

The violence began after calls on social media, during which many storefronts were smashed, while police officers had to repeatedly disperse aggressive, masked youths who threw stones and Molotov cocktails at them.
