Iraq.. Flights stopped at Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports for security reasons
Today, Monday, a source in Baghdad Airport Passports stated that all flights to and from Erbil International Airport have been suspended for 3 hours, indicating that there is a security measure inside the airport, according to Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent.
Iraqi media quoted an informed source in Iraqi Kurdistan as saying that the reason for the suspension of flights at Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports was due to the presence of a drone that was flying over the airport.
He stressed that the decision to suspend flights will continue until 12:00 pm local time and may extend for a longer period.
The source also pointed out that the decision to close Sulaymaniyah airport was also for security reasons, without giving further details.
Earlier in the day, a security source reported that flights had stopped at Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports in the Kurdistan region.
