Tomorrow is the beginning of Muharram and the beginning of the Hijri year 1445

The New Moons Department in the Saudi Supreme Court decided that Tuesday 12/30/1444 AH – according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar, corresponding to 7/18/2023 AD, is the thirty-day completion of the month of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 AH, and that Wednesday 1/1/1445 AH – according to the calendar. Umm Al-Qura – corresponding to 7/19/2023 AD is the beginning of the month of Muharram and the beginning of the new Hijri year 1445 AH.

This came during a statement issued by the Supreme Court, which reads: The Crescents Department of the Supreme Court has reviewed what it received from the courts about the sightings of the crescent of the month of Muharram for the year 1445 AH on the evening of Monday the twenty-ninth of the month of Dhul-Hijjah for the year 1444 AH – according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 17 / 7 / 2023 A.D., and after the department was informed of what was reported to it in this regard, it issued Resolution No. (172 / AH) dated 12/30/1444 AH, which includes: Incomplete evidence of sighting the crescent of the month of Muharram for the year 1445 AH on the evening of the aforementioned day; Accordingly, the New Moons Department in the Supreme Court decided: that Tuesday 12/30/1444 AH – according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 7/18/2023 AD, is the thirty-day completion of the month of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 AH, and that Wednesday 1/1/1445 AH – According to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 7/19/2023 AD, it is the beginning of the month of Muharram for the year 1445 AH.

And the Supreme Court, declaring this, asks the Lord Almighty to grant success to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince and to reward them with the best reward, and to guide Muslims to do what pleases Him, and to reunite them and unite their word.
