A new logistics area in Saudi Arabia, with an investment value exceeding 100 million riyals
The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and MEDLOG, the logistics arm of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), signed an agreement to establish the first integrated logistics area at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, with an investment value exceeding 100 million riyals.
The new area covers an area of 100,000 square meters and has a capacity of 300,000 containers annually.
It is noteworthy that, during the past two years, “Mawani” has signed agreements to establish six logistics zones with an investment value exceeding two billion riyals, and to provide more than 6,000 job opportunities in the first phase.
Hisham Al-Ansari, CEO of the Mediterranean Navigation Company, confirmed that the new logistics area at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam will link Saudi Arabia with more than 260 import and export destinations, including direct lines with eastern America.
In an interview with Al-Arabiya, he said that the company owns a large fleet of smart containers that are used for goods of interest, so that the main consumer can follow the movement of containers, and all cargo data is available through an integrated system on the Internet.
