New ways to export food to countries in need after the termination of the grain agreement


Today, Tuesday, Moscow revealed work to establish alternative ways to export food to countries in need after the termination of the grain agreement.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, options for the export of grain Far from the West and Ukraine, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Russia has officially notified Turkey of the dissolution of the Ukrainian grain export coordination center in Istanbul.

Lavrov said that the end of the grain export agreement means “withdrawal of security guarantees” in the Black Sea.

And the Russian agency “Sputnik” reported that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan other options for grain supplies to countries in need after the end of the grain export agreement through the Black Sea.

And the Turkish “Anatolia” agency reported earlier that Fidan discussed with Lavrov by phone the latest developments related to the grain agreement.

As Russia’s deputy delegate to the UN Security Council said, we will continue to export grain to developing countries.

Yesterday, the validity period of the agreement that allowed Ukraine to export grain to international markets through the Black Sea expired, after Russia refused to extend it, as the United Nations announced the end of the inspection of the last ship carrying Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea.

The agreement to export grain across the Black Sea between Russia and Ukraine, mediated by Turkey and under the auspices of the United Nations, was signed in Istanbul in July last year. Russia extended the agreement three times, but it informed Turkey, Ukraine and the United Nations Secretariat yesterday that it did not agree to extend the agreement.
