Ukraine’s counterattack will be long, very difficult and bloody

The chief of staff of the American forces confirmed on Tuesday that Ukraine has a “large” reserve of armed forces that have not yet participated in the counterattack against the Russian forces.

Milley considered that it was “still too early” to say that the counter-attack had failed, and also said that “it will be very long, very difficult and bloody”.

Along with Milley, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin confirmed, after their participation in a virtual event aimed at securing international support for Ukraine, that the United States is “continuing” to Kiev troops help.

He explained that three brigades are currently being trained and armed in Germany, in addition to other training operations in the region.

Washington has provided Ukraine with more than $42 billion in military aid since the war began in February 2022.
