We are preparing a counterattack in Aleppo
Agencies – Damascus:
The Syrian army confirmed that it was forced to carry out a redeployment operation with the aim of preparing for a counterattack on the Aleppo and Idlib fronts after waging violent battles there with “terrorist organizations.”
The army stated in a statement that: “During the past few days, the armed organizations affiliated with the so-called “Al-Nusra Front,” supported by heavy weapons and large numbers of drones, launched a massive attack from multiple axes on the Aleppo and Idlib fronts.”
The statement added: “Our armed forces fought fierce battles at various engagement points extending over a strip of more than 100 km to stop their advance.”
For his part, an Iraqi security source reported the deployment of 3 brigades from the Iraqi army and two brigades from the Popular Mobilization Forces over a wide area of the border with Syria from northern Sinjar to Al-Qaim.
This comes after Iraqi Defense Minister Thabet Muhammad Al-Abbasi announced on Friday evening that the army forces of all types and formations are “ready to protect the borders and skies of Iraq from any danger, side by side with other security forces.”
